Dr Leah Totton is a medical doctor and an award-winning cosmetic doctor with 11 years experience and a post-graduate diploma in dermatology. Dr Sidra has been a medical doctor for 10 years. She has always been passionate about making others feel more confident and satisfied with their appearance; she began her journey with NHS and went on to pursue her passion as her career.

Dr Sidra has achieved the highest qualification for injectables in aesthetic medicine and is level 7 trained. She has undertaken advanced training in various aesthetic procedures including anti-ageing Injections and dermal fillers. Dr Mariam Michail is an experienced cosmetic doctor and is based at the Moorgate and Baker Street branches. She graduated from Bart’s & The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2014 and has been working as a dentist and cosmetic doctor in Central London since. She has completed extensive postgraduate training in all aspects of advanced facial aesthetics and skincare, including a Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetics. Dr Mariam specialises in performing a wide range of injectable treatments including anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler and especially enjoys performing cheek filler and lower face filler. Dr Cian McLoughlin is an experienced aesthetic doctor based at our Baker Street and Moorgate branches. He completed his medical degree in Ireland, qualifying in 2019. From there he gained extensive medical experience working in both Ireland and the UK in areas such as Nephrology, Oncology and Acute Medicine. Dr Cian started his career in Aesthetic Medicine in 2020 when he began his Level 7 training with Harley Academy.

Dr. Dara combines an artist’s eye with a surgeon’s precision to create natural-looking results. Dr. Dara began her medical journey at the University of Birmingham, where she graduated with honors. To deepen her understanding of the human body, she went on to earn a degree in Anatomy and Developmental Biology from University College London (UCL).

Dr. Dara’s dedication led her to a highly competitive surgical training post in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Royal Free Hospital in London. Her exceptional skills earned her membership in the Royal College of Surgeons. Alongside her practice, she has also taught anatomy to medical students at Queen Mary University of London, keeping her knowledge sharp and up-to-date.

What is sclerotherapy leg vein treatment?

Sclerotherapy leg vein treatment is a highly-regarded treatment for thread vein removal which offers a non-surgical option for the removal of leg veins that delivers impressive results.

Sclerotherapy targets problematic veins by injecting a sclerosing solution directly into them. This solution irritates the vein lining, causing it to collapse and be absorbed by the body. Over time, the treated vein fades, and blood reroutes to healthier veins.

How does leg vein therapy treatment work?

Sclerotherapy is a straightforward procedure that does not require anaesthesia. The treatment takes around 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area and the number of veins being treated. 

Throughout the procedure, you'll lie on your back with your legs slightly elevated. Your doctor will first cleanse the area before injecting a solution into the targeted vein using a fine needle. This solution causes the vein walls to swell, stick together, and eventually seal shut, stopping blood flow. As a result, the vein gradually fades within a few weeks.

You may feel minor stinging or cramping when the solution is injected. Let your doctor know if you're experiencing any discomfort.

After the injections, your doctor will apply compression and gently massage the area to keep blood from re-entering the treated vein and to help disperse the solution. A compression pad may be placed over the injection site to maintain pressure.

Following the procedure, it’s essential to walk around to reduce the risk of blood clots. Most patients can resume their regular activities the same day.
